Matt was born and raised in Kernersville, North Carolina. Growing up, Matt spent much of his time exploring in the woods which developed into a love for the outdoors and being surrounded by nature. With that passion for nature in mind, Matt went on to attend Appalachian State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management with a focus on commercial recreation and tourism management. After spending a few years in the ski resort industry as an event coordinator, he has decided to make a major change in his life and join us as a deckhand aboard the David B.

In his spare time Matt enjoys any activity that allows for him to be outdoors including snowboarding, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and playing golf. Matt is known for his calm demeanor, great sense of humor, and always greeting people with a smile. Matt is excited for his first season in Alaska and can’t wait to serve you!
