8-day Round Trip Cruise with Pack Creek Bear Viewing
Southeast Alaska is a magical place to be on a boat. And the best way for you to take in all the magic is on an adventure cruise aboard the David B. Our small ship can take you through channels and into coves and anchorages that the big cruise ships with equally big crowds can’t go. We go to special places like the Pack Creek Bear Viewing Area, where a limited number of people are allowed to visit each year to quietly observe Alaska brown bears (grizzly) in their natural habitat.
Visit our blog to check out a video of the highlights from this trip, or have a listen to our podcast with Pack Creek Bear Guide Dan Kirkwood describing what it’s like to visit Pack Creek.
Highlights for Bears, Glaciers, and Fjords Alaska Cruise
Your Adventure Begins in Juneau: Your journey commences in Juneau, Alaska’s capital city, at noon. Here you’ll catch eagles and ravens mingling with tourists downtown. Be sure to visit Mendenhall glacier before you board the boat with one of the local taxi guides. Then leave civilization behind as you head into the rich marine biodiversity of Southeast Alaska’s waters.
Exclusive Pack Creek Bear Viewing: A highlight of your trip is an exclusive visit to the Pack Creek Bear Viewing Area on Admiralty Island. Pack Creek is a special place and is limited to 24 individuals daily, including guides. In this setting, you’ll be able to quietly observe coastal brown bears (grizzlies) in their natural environment. This unique experience offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Discovering the Wilderness: As we navigate northward, the David B takes you to secluded coves that larger vessels cannot reach. Your journey takes you across Stephens Passage to the awe-inspiring Tracy Arm/Fords Terror Wilderness. This protected wilderness encompasses 653,179 acres and is described by John Muir as a place of sublime beauty.
Glacial Majesty and Ancient Forests: Prepare to be awe-struck by the towering sapphire icebergs of Dawes Glacier at the head of Endicott Arm. Enjoy the feeling of walking in an ancient forest that drips with moss and lichen. A skiff ride into the back of Fords Terror reveals a hidden world of nature’s power and beauty.
Wildlife, Walks, and Waterfalls: Our voyage is rich with opportunities to encounter a diverse array of wildlife, including whales, mountain goats, bears, and a plethora of sea birds. Explore ancient forests, take a walk on a remote beach, and discover tidepools densely packed with life. Each day offers new adventures.
Gourmet Dining on the Waves: Complementing your adventures are delicious gourmet meals, crafted from scratch by our onboard chef, Christine. Savor handmade croissants, local seafood, and other culinary delights, prepared with care and served amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Southeast Alaska’s wilderness.
Arrival in Juneau: The journey concludes back in Juneau, where we arrive by mid-day, the memories of glaciers, wildlife, and wilderness adventures fresh in your mind.
Embark with us on the David B for our 8-day Bears, Glaciers, and Fjords Alaska Cruise. This journey not only promises the adventure of a lifetime but also an intimate connection with the heart of Southeast Alaska’s unparalleled natural beauty.

Comments from Previous Passengers:
“Our favorite parts were all the activities (hikes, kayaking, skiff rides, stories, etc), whales & bears (of course!), the food was delicious, having waterproof boots for guests, and how Jeffrey & Christine interacted with the guests and customized the whole trip experience. We have already recommended to our friends about taking a David B trip. And, we probably will do it again ourselves.

“The trip was awesome. The bears were amazing. The whole experience was truly special. And in spite of stuffing myself daily with Christine’s fantastic food, I managed to lose 1 pound!”

“Some of our favorite parts were: Bears, bears, bears. West brother hike was very nice, another one of those would be a fun addition. And kayaking. Our hosts, the food and the company were pretty great!
Three thumbs up of course. I think it was the right duration. Food excellent. Going places larger boats do not. What’s not to like?”
