Canada’s Inside Passage Cruise: 12-Day Southbound Itinerary

A Small Ship Cruise through The Inside Passage

Cruise Canada’s Inside Passage: enjoy your trip aboard a 65-foot boat for an expedition-style adventure. Along the way, you will be treated to extraordinary scenery and wildlife. From the deck of the David B, you will see a world where waterfalls cascade down the steep walls of fjords carved from long-ago glaciers. Observe orca whales and eagles as they forage for salmon. Life aboard the boat is relaxed. We cruise during daylight hours and anchor in a new location each night so you will be able to fully experience this magnificent landscape.

Optional Learn to Cruise: This itinerary is part of our Learn to Cruise workshop, but there’s no requirement to participate in any of the classes. There will be lots of time for occasional shore excursions, hiking, and kayaking for anyone interested in the journey over the destination.

Two Canadian Inside Passage Trips Annually: Both of 12-day repositioning trips run approximately 690 nautical miles of the Inside Passage between northern Washington state, British Columbia, Canada, and the southern panhandle of Alaska.

The northbound 12-day Canadian Inside Passage trip departs from Bellingham, WA and you will fly home from Ketchikan, AK. On the southbound trip, you’ll join the ship in Ketchikan, AK and disembark in Bellingham, WA.

One of our favorite places to visit is Baker Inlet which has a narrow entrance and can have a lot of current. With careful planning, we enter Baker Inlet’s Watts Narrows at slack water. The video below shows us going through the narrows. You can also hear the distinctive sound of the David B’s original Washington Iron Works 3- Cylinder engine in the background.

Comments from Previous Passengers:

“My (Canadian Inside Passage) trip on the David B was sublime and met all my expectations. Jeffrey, Christine and Matt were excellent hosts. I will never forget this wonderful trip. My favorite parts of the trip were the sound of the David B’s engine, stopping to view the Humpback whales calling to each other, plus the yummy food, especially the hot freshly baked sourdough bread, and sitting in the pilot house and learning from Jeffrey.
It is a unique and rare life experience and the best way to see the scenery and wildlife.

“Sailing on the M/V David B is as relaxing as you make it. Time was relaxed without rush. Visiting with Jeffrey and Christine is easy and diverse. I felt welcome throughout the boat, both by crew and guests. I spent much time with physical charts and watching the technology on the bridge. Jeffrey answered any question posed. The meals prepared for guests were nothing short of amazing. I don’t need to eat until June.”
