Christine is an amazing blend of enthusiasm and expertise. Since 1998, when she and Jeffrey envisioned transforming the Motor Vessel David B into the cozy tour boat it is today, Christine has been the heart and soul to Jeffrey’s vision of what cruises aboard the David B should feel like.
Christine’s journey to working professionally on boats began in 2001 on a whale watch boat, where she would engage passenger with the wonders of the natural world, from killer whales to sea lions, and seabirds, while also working in the galley selling hot dogs and clam chowder. Her prior experience included volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center focused on birds of prey and co-founding another wildlife center.
Her passion for nature is evident. From 1998 to 2009, Christine volunteered as an Eagle Watcher on the Skagit River, sharing her deep knowledge of the ecosystem. Her guided walks through an ancient forest focused on providing people a deeper connection to the eagles, the salmon, and the river.
On a typical trip, Christine wears the many hats of a naturalist, cook, and mate. Her role as a naturalist is not just a title; it’s a window through which she shares her love for wildlife, stirring a sense of wonder in passengers as they spot whales, bears, or rare birds. Her excursions, whether it’s a quiet beach walk or kayaking along serene shorelines, are moments of profound connection with nature.
Christine’s culinary skills are another facet of her diverse talents. Prior to running the David B, Christine went to school for Pastry, where she honed her skills to prepare not only delicious pastries but memorable meals. She delights her guests with local seafood dishes, thick-crusted sourdough bread, and handmade buttery croissants, all prepared on a wood-fired cookstove.
Her passions also extend to photography and journaling, encouraging her guests to capture their own experiences. These activities, she believes, enhance the journey’s meaning, and create lasting memories.
Christine has a degree in Anthropology and holds a 200-ton US captain’s license. In the off-season, she’s the creative force behind the vessel’s social media presence and an active participant in local community events.

When not at sea, Christine’s adventurous spirit continues. She enjoys hiking, trail running, and indulging in creative pursuits like photography, drawing, and learning new skills – currently, watercolors, and audio recording and editing.
Christine’s constant presence on the David B and her passions, purpose, and connection to the natural world, are just a few of the ways that make travel aboard the David B more than just a cruise, but a journey to remember.
