Exploring Canada’s Inside Passage
Come aboard the David B for a calm water exploration of the Canadian Inside Passage. The Canadian Inside Passage cruises are 12-day vacations that run the 690 miles between Bellingham, Washington, and Ketchikan, Alaska. We typically offer a Northbound cruise in May and Southbound cruise in August. You can see a sample 12-day itinerary here.
We also offer these same cruises as an educational Learn to Cruise trip for boaters who wish to gain knowledge of tides, currents and great anchorages in the Inside Passage. For Project Management Professionals, our 12-day trips are also perfect for continuing education credits.
Enjoy the video below from one of our 12-day Ketchikan to Bellingham cruises where we spent the morning kayaking and watching a black bear at a waterfall. The bear was drawn to the waterfall by spawning sockeye salmon.
Each Canadian Inside Passage small ship adventure cruise takes you on a unique expedition to see and experience lesser known backwater channels. We have the flexibility to visit new and different locations that large cruise ship companies cannot. A few of the potential highlights of cruising the Canadian Inside Passage aboard the 65 foot David B include: watching hundreds of waterfalls cascading into calm deep-water fjords; visiting an abandoned cannery or; time permitting, taking a side trip to see ancient petroglyphs and long gone fishing villages. Wildlife viewing of orca whales, humpback whales, porpoises, dolphins, seals and sea lions are also quite common during this trip. Each night we anchor and you will be treated to a wilderness experience where peace and quiet are interrupted only by the high whistling call of bald eagles and the cry of gulls.
Not only are our cruises a feast for your eyes and ears, but they are also a culinary adventure for your taste buds. All of your meals aboard the David B are expertly prepared on the boat’s wood cook stove, by the ship’s chef, Christine Smith. So your senses will be not only filled with both the wonder and beauty of this unique landscape, but also treated to the taste and smells of fresh-baked sourdough bread and a seemingly unlimited presentation of new creations from the galley. See what’s cookin’ aboard the David B. for a sampling of Christine’s cuisine.
