The San Juan Islands

of NW Washington are among the most beautiful places in the Lower 48 states, and one of the least "discovered." Few people know that the San Juans average 247 days a year of beautiful sunshine! Another surprise to visitors are the pristine beaches and amazing wildlife (orca whales, bald eagles, murres, puffins, seals, porpoises) of the San Juan Islands.

Each on of these cruises offers you a chance to unwind in one of the most beautiful archipelagos anywhere.

Weekend Get-Away Cruises

 These trips leave Friday afternoons and return on Sunday evenings. We leave Bellingham around 3pm and can be in the San Juan Islands in time for a beach walk or short paddle in the kayaks before dinner. We anchor in a different location each night. Enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, and kayaking, as well as, a good night’s rest in one of our cabins with comfortable queen sized beds and private heads. You will also be treated to gourmet meals prepared on board while you explore the San Juan Islands. Visit our schedule page for dates and prices.

 San Juan Island Vacation Cruises

 Join us on a 4 to 7-day cruise in the San Juan Islands. This is a great way to get to know the San Juans. Once we leave Bellingham, you are on island time. We take our time cruising at about 6 knots to each night’s destination. Along the way we will make stops for hiking, tide pooling or shopping at one of the many small towns that make up the character of the San Juans. As with all of our cruises your vacation includes all meals cooked by Christine on her wood cook-stove. Enjoy hand made croissants still warm from the oven for breakfast, or for dinner savory halibut tacos with just made corn tortillas and salsa prepared that afternoon. Guided Kayak Mothership Cruises

Each morning we will send you off with one of the Elakah Expeditions guides. Under their watchful lead you'll explore a new area each day. On most days your guide will bring lunch along for a picnic on a quiet beach or occasionally you'll meet the boat mid-day for lunch. In the late afternoon you'll meet the David B to relax for the evening.

All of the sea kayak equipment, meals and, of course, guides are included. No kayaking experience necessary, the trips are open to adventurous people of all abilities, and because of the small group size we can easily guide guests with different paddling abilities. Boat, Bike and Hike with the Austin Chapter of the Sierra Club

Through a special arrangement with the Austin Chapter of the Sierra Club we are offering this trip is at a substantial discount to Sierra Club members and a portion of your trip fee is returned to the Austin Sierra Club as a donation from the David B.

Best of all, you will be one of only SIX passengers on board and the boat will be at the disposal and direction of the passengers; it will take us where we want to go in the islands. Included in the trip fee is a 2-day bike rental that will give us a unique opportunity to see San Juan and Lopez islands by bike, arguably the very best way to see these islands.

On this trip you'll enjoy beautiful scenery and easy riding on the pastoral islands of San Juan and Lopez. Highlights include a stop at the Lime Kiln Lighthouse/Whale Watch Park and a visit to the Lopez Island Vineyards. You'll also be going on some great hikes with beautiful panorama views of the San Juan and Gulf Islands. Throughout the trip David B will be your home base while you ride with all your meals and accommodations included.
