Crossants and Pain au Chocolat
My favorite thing to make for our guests are croissants and pain au chocolat. I make the pastries early in the morning and while I'm cutting, rolling and shaping the dough, I think about how much everyone on the boat is going to enjoy them.
Carolyn on the Hummingbird Pub Bus
Carolyn's all smiles as we head to the hummingbird pub on the bus.
Halibut Crepes for Breakfast
The last morning's breakfast of our Inside Passage cruise was halibut crepes in a mornay sauce.
Bus to the Hummingbird Pub
For the last night of the cruise we anchored in Montegue Harbor. We took a side trip to the Hummingbird Pub for drinks before dinner.
The David B at Anchor in Bull Passage
Returning from our sunset skiff ride around Bull Passage, the David B sat at anchor waiting for us to return for a nice dinner.
Skiff Ride Near Lasqueti
One evening we decided to go for a sunset skiff ride among several of the small islands in Bull Passage near Lasqueti Island.
Oystercatcher
Oystercatchers are familiar birds in Desolation Sound. Their songs can be heard through out the maze of islets that makes up our anchorage in Prideaux Haven
Hamburger Buns Made by Christine
We make our own hamburger buns for BBQ-ing on a hot day in Desolation Sound.
Drinks on Deck
The hot weather in Desolation Sound is a makes it the prefect conditions for gin and tonics with glacier ice that we brought back from Alaska
Desolation Sound in August
Desolation Sound is one the prettiest places to visit. Priedeaux Haven is one of the few places we go that's a busy anchorage. It can be a little bit of a party scene, but for one night, it's well worth it.
Undersea Garden
Brightly colored sea urchins, anenomes, sea cucumbers, sponges and other critters makes this under water garden in the Pearce Islands a favorite sight.
Jackson Narrows
Jackson Narrows is another picturesque passageway that we take guests of the David B through.
Orca Whale Alongside
This orca whale swam up to the Daivd B, checked us out and then swam under the boat.
Orca Whales in Mathieson Channel
We came across this group of orca whales feeding in Mathieson Channel.
Old Equipment at Butedale
A walk through Butedale gives you a glimpse back to a time when salmon canning operations were numerous and profitable.
Powerhouse at Butedale
Butedale is best photographed in anything but full color. Here's the pumphouse with its ridge over a creek. Lou, the caretaker, gets his electricity from the creek and the generator in this building.
A Beautiful and Ghostly Banana Slug
We love the Banana Slug. It spends its life quietly breaking down leaf litter and carrion to making the forest floor soil healthy for big, beautiful trees.
Soaking Pool at Bishops Bay
This is a great stop. Warm water and a beautiful pool. So happy this spot is off the beaten path.
The David B at Anchor in Bishops Bay
A pretty view of the David B and Bishops Bay from the hot springs pool.
Skiff Ride into the Hot Springs
Jeffrey takes us to the beach so we can have a nice long soak in the hot springs and listen to for the humpback whales
Humback Whale in Bishops Bay
On our way to anchor at Bishops Bay Hot Springs, we came across two humpback whales feeding in the bay not too far from where we dropped the hook.
Landscape made by Glaciers
Some beautiful valleys made by ancient glaciers. This was taken in Ursula Channel
Entering into Baker Inlet
Once you are passed Watts Narrows, you've entered Baker Inlet. It's a breathtakingly beautiful fjord with high mountains and thick forest.
Seashore Creatures at Low-Tide
Watts Narrows at Low-tide is vibrant with sea anemones and other creatures.
Watts Narrows
Watts Narrows is one of our favorite places to go through. It's just wide enough for the David B to get through, then once you're through it opens up in to Baker Inlet. A beautful, quiet 8-mile long fjord. Sometimes you can catch a glimpse of a bear on the beach or listen to birds.
A Rainbow in the Great Bear Rain Forest
We saw this section of a rainbow while cruising though Grenville Channel
Capt. Jeffrey Goes for a Bike Ride
Capt. Jeffrey takes a break from running the boat, to go on a bicycle ride.
Bicycle the Inside Passage
When you feel like you've had enough to eat and you'd like to get a little extra exercise, just hop on the bicycle. We enjoy peddling and watching for whales or even bears. This year I found a mother black bear and her two cubs foraging along the shoreline of Grenville Channel when bicycling.
A Quiet Anchorage
Once the anchor was down, the only sound we heard was water from a hidden waterfall and birds singing in the trees.
Thick Crust Sourdough Bread
Twice a day I bake fresh bread for our guests. Here's a beautiful loaf of sourdough that just came out of the wood fired cook stove.
The David B’s Galley
Just a nice shot of the David B's galley with the wood cook stove that keeps the space cozy and warm everyday.
Fishing Boats in Prince Rupert
On our Ketchikan to Bellingham cruise we make a stop in Prince Rupert to check in with Canada Customs.
Cruise Ship in Ketchikan
We love leaving these boats behind and getting out into the remote quiet anchorages with six or fewer people on the David B.
One of our Staterooms
We have some great, comfy cabins. All of our cabins have their own private heads (sink and toliet).
